As EngagedThinking's first project, our online dictionary has proved to be very useful to internet users. With a fast retrieval process and intuitive search features, this online dictionary can help you find a quick word or phrase without all the complexity of other online and paper dictionaries.
A favorite feature among users is the "Notes on usage" field, which provides information on certain verbs and expressions when needed to help explain how they are used. Words featured on our Word of the Day blog are linked to entries in the dictionary to enhance further the dictionaries usefulness.
In the future, we hope to offer users the ability to suggest words and expressions as well as offer an RSS feed of newly added entries.
Rome is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and it is also one of the oldest in Europe. Only in Rome can one see a time-line of Western history unfold: from ancient Rome, to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque and all the way to the modern day.
Our blog site features posts on popular and important attractions in and around Rome as well as reviews of historical and art historical books on Rome, things to do off the beaten track as well as discuss points on the eternal city that you might not find in your run of the mill travel guide. Learn about important artists, writers and thinkers who based themselves in Rome and are now part of the cultural fabric of this wonderful city.
We'll also talk about some of the problems facing current day Rome and current events to keep travelers, scholars and all others interested in Rome abreast of events and happenings.
A recent thread on Italian language boards and sites has been the need for more students to immerse themselves in the language. Too many students rely on books and grammar and do not spend enough time listening and speaking the language. In response to that warranted criticism, EngagedThinking create the blog, Italian Language Resources, which features dozens of links to Italian sites where students can actually use their language. The internet, in this regard, can have a tremendous impact on students' ability to improve their listening comprehension and speaking skills.
Each week a new site is profiled on our blog along with tips on how you can use it to improve your Italian. There is a generous listing of podcasts, streaming video and media, along with links to TV programs, YouTube and more.
